How do I Recover NETGEAR Admin Password Using the Password Recovery Feature?

If you reset the password for the router's admin user name, NETGEAR advises that you enable password recovery. If you forget your password, you can then get it back. The Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome browsers all support this recovery procedure, but Safari does not.

Recover NETGEAR Admin Password Using the Password Recovery Feature

Step 1: Open an internet browser from a computer or mobile device linked to your router's network.

Step 2: Enter http://routerlogin.net or http://routerlogin.com in the address bar.

Step 3: The log-in screen appears.

Step 4: The username and password for the router.

Step 5: Admin is the user name. Password is the standard password. Case differences affect both the username and password.

Step 6: It shows the BASIC Home screen.

Step 7: Select ADVANCED > Administration > Set Password.

Step 8: The screen for Set Password appears.

Step 9: Give the answers to two security questions you've chosen.

Step 10: On the Apply button, click.

Step 11: Your edits were saved.

How can I Access my NETGEAR Router If I Forget the Password?

If you've forgotten your NetGear router's log-in password, a factory reset can fix the problem. It's important to note that if you execute a factory reset, you will lose any adjustments you have made to settings like your WiFi network name display (SSID), your log-in information (user name, password), and other security settings.

Therefore, if all other efforts to recover your old password fails, a factory reset is your last resort.

How to Use the Factory Reset Feature:

Step 1: Verify that your NETGEAR device's Power light is on.

Step 2: On the back of your NETGEAR device, look for the Restore Factory Settings or Reset button.

Step 3: Use a small, pointed instrument, like a paper clip or a SIM eject tool, to press and hold the button for seven seconds.

Step 4: Release the reset button after that.

Step 5: If followed successfully, these procedures should reset your NETGEAR router.

Step 6: Your log-in credentials are reset to default after the NETGEAR router resets, with admin as the username and password as the password.

How can a Factory Reset be Avoided?

Use the password recovery tool built into your NETGEAR equipment to prevent a factory reset. If you forget your unique password, you can retrieve it using this function.

The password recovery method is supported by almost all widely used online browsers, including Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox. The Safari browser is the lone exception, though.

How to Activate the Feature for Password Recovery:

Step 1: Launch your web browser on a device linked to your NETGEAR router's WiFi network.

Step 2: In your web browser, type either http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. A window for logging in will then appear.

Step 3: Recover NETGEAR admin password using the password recovery feature. The default NETGEAR username and password are, accordingly, admin and password. Since these log-in details were case-sensitive, utilise capital letters with care.

Step 4: When the Basic Home screen displays, select the following choices in that order: Set Password under Advanced > Administration. The Set Password page then shows up.

Step 5: Select the checkbox next to Enable Password Recovery.

Step 6: Please give them the answers to two security questions of your choosing.

Step 7: The system will store your changes when you choose the Apply option.
