How do I Reset the Admin Password on my NETGEAR Router?

This article explains the way to reset the admin password on my NETGEAR router. Netgear says that you can enable a mynetgear portal forgot password if you want to change the password for the router user name admin. This may allow you to reset your password if it’s forgotten. This process is supported in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome browsers. But not within the Safari browser.

To Reset the Admin Password on my NETGEAR Router:

Step 1: In the address box of your browser enter, www.routerlogin.net.

A login window opens.

Step 2: Click Cancel.

If the password restore is enabled, you are induced to enter the serial number of the router.

The serial number is on the merchandise label.

Step 3: Enter the serial number of the router.

Step 4: Click Continue.

A screen displays the answers to your security questions.

Step 5: Enter the saved answers to your security questions.

Step 6: Click Continue.

A screen displays to reset the router password.

Step 7: Enter the new password and ensure it.

Step 8: Type your security questions or set new security questions.

Step 9: Click Next.

You have successfully reset your password.

Step 10: Click Login to log back to the router together with your new password.

NETGEAR router password recovery allows you to recover your admin password if it’s changed or forgotten. We suggested that you will allow the router Netgear password reset if you change the admin password on your router.

To Restore your Admin Password with the Help of the Password Restore Feature:

Step 1: Launch an internet browser from a computer connected to your router’s WiFi network.

Step 2: Type routerlogin.net or routerlogin.com into your web browser’s address box.

A login window displays.

Step 3: Click CANCEL.

Step 4: The Router nighthawk Password Recovery window displays.

Enter your router’s serial number.

Step 5: Click CONTINUE.

Step 6: Answer your security questions.

To Perform a Factory Reset:

Verify that your router’s Power light is on.

On the rear of your router, locate the Restore Factory Settings or push the button.

Use a fastener or similar object to press and hold the Restore Factory Settings or push button for seven seconds.

Release the Restore Factory Settings or push the button.

Your router resets.

While you log in to your router again enter these default login credentials.

User Name: admin

Password: password
