How to Backup and Restore a NETGEAR Range Extender?

You can build a backup file of your current Wi-Fi extender settings using Backup Settings. All of the extender's setup, including Wi-Fi settings, passwords, and accessibility schedules, will be saved in the backup file.

If the extender has been restored to factory default settings, the backup file saved on your PC can be used to restore your settings. Backup and restore a NETGEAR range extender is explained here.

Follow These Instructions to Save Your Preferences:

Step 1: To reach the NETGEAR genie of your extender, type http://www.mywifiext.net in the address bar of a web browser.

Step 2: Enter the email address and password you used to set up your extender when prompted for a login and password.

Step 3: To access the Other Settings page, click Settings on the left side of the NETGEAR genie page, then Other.

Step 4: On the Other Settings tab, click the BACKUP button to save your extender's current settings to your computer.

To Restore the Settings:

Step 1: To recover the extender settings from a backup file saved on your computer, go to the same Other Settings page and choose Browse under Restore.

Step 2: Navigate to the location where the backup file was saved and select it.

Step 3: Select the RESTORE option to restore the settings.

Step 4: Select Yes on the extender's restore confirmation screen.

Step 5: The extender will be resumed after the backup file has been uploaded.

Follow These Procedures to Reconnect Your NETGEAR WiFi Range Extender Tthrough Ethernet:

Step 1: Connect your range extender to your PC with an Ethernet cable.

Step 2: On your computer, launch a web browser.

Step 3: Type http://mywifiext.net into the address bar of your web browser.

Step 4: By pressing Enter or clicking Search, you may enter or search.

Step 5: The login screen is displayed.

Step 7: Fill in the username and password you created during the setup.

Step 8: admin and password are the default username and password, respectively. When it comes to usernames and passwords, case matters.

Step 11: login is the option to press.

Step 12: Select Setup > Wireless Settings.

Step 13: Make that the Password (Network Key) entry in Security Options matches the password on your router.

Step 14: If the password doesn't match, change it to the router's password.

Step 15: Click Apply

Step 16: Connect your devices to the WiFi extender.
