How to Fix Unable to Detect Range Extender Network Name (SSID) Issue?

Are you not able to detect the network name of your range extender? If yes, then worry not as here we will help you learn how to fix this problem. This happens when your extender is not broadcasting the SSID or it has not booted up successfully.

When this happens, then you need to restart your extender and then try to connect it one more time. If the wireless devices are not detecting the network name of your extender, then you must check whether your extender is broadcasting the SSID or not.

How can I Check Whether Your Extender is Broadcasting SSID or not?

Below are the steps that you need to follow in order to check whether your extender is broadcasting SSID or not.

Step 1: Connect our PC to the extender using an ethernet cable.

Step 2: Launch your extender GUI by going to the website www.mywifiext.net.

Step 3: If asked for a password and email, you need to use your email and password which you used for setting up your extender account. In case it is asking for the username and password, then admin is the Username by default and Password is the password by default.

In case you find that the default password is not working for you, then that means you already changed the password. Therefore, you must enter the changed password.

Step 4: Go to the Wi-Fi settings and then check if "Enable 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi" has been enabled or not. Also, you need to check whether "Broadcast this network name" is checked.

Step 5: Now you need to verify the name of your range extender and ensure that you are searching for the right SSID.

Blinking Power LED Issue

This problem can appear if the firmware of your extender isn't getting enough power supply or is corrupt.

Step 1: Please ensure that your extender is connected to the electrical outlet.

Step 2: Now, insert a paper clip or pin in the reset hole and you need to hold it for at least 20 seconds.

Step 3: In case you find that the power LED light is still blinking, then you are required to download the firmware of your extender and save it on your computer system.

Step 4: Then, you need to download the TFTP software.

Step 5: Once you get all the required files, you must perform a hard reset on your extender. After that, you need to power cycle.

Step 6: Then, you need to connect your hardwired computer to the extender and see if it has a valid IP address. If not, then you are required to assign a static IP address to your PC in the range of your extender's IP address.

Step 7: After that, you need to power cycle your PC.

Step 8: When your PC is ready, launch the command prompt and then try to ping the IP address of your extender.

Step 9: Once you do that, you need to run the TFTP.exe file that you downloaded before.

Step 10: Enter the IP address in the server box and then enter the password in the password box.

Step 11: Now, go to the File section and then select the browse button. After that, select the firmware which you downloaded before.

Step 12: Select the upgrade button and see the message that shows up.

Step 13: If you get a message of a successful upgrade, then you must change the IP address of your PC to DHCP again.

Step 14: Perform a hard reset one more time and then set it up as normal when it is ready.
