How to Setup Netgear Orbi Voice RBS40 in Extender Mode?

Whenever you purchase a new Orbi voice, it is set to normal mode by default. This only works with your Orbi router. In case you are thinking of configuring your RBS40 with a router that is not  Orbi One.

Below are the Steps That You Need to Carry Out in Order to Set up Your Netgear Orbi Voice in Extender Mode. 

Step 1: Keep your Orbi voice and router close to each other. The distance between the two should not be more than 5 feet. 

Step 2: Connect your Orbi voice to an electrical outlet. 

Step 3: In case the device is powered on, then you must turn it off by pressing the power button. You can also select the option of the "Sync" key from the device panel. 

Step 4: Now, a white LED light will start glowing. After that, the light will change to solid blue. It confirms that the device is successfully turned on. 

Step 5: Once you release the button, Orbi Voice will enter the extender mode. You will notice a change in the status of your LED light. At first, it will blink blue light and then the light will change to solid blue. This will confirm the connection between your router and the extender. 

Step 6: You can now initiate the setup process. 

Step 7: After that, connect your wireless devices to the network through the SSID of your extender. The default SSID is "Netgear Ext". In case you wish to change the default SSID, then you can do so by going to the" User Interface of Orbi".

Step 8: The default address to launch the user setup wizard of your router is Mywisfiext. This will only work if your orbi extender setup is connected to the client's device. You must check updates for your device. In case the updates are available, then you must download them. 

Step 9: The firmware updates do not pop up on the screen directly. In this case, you need to enter the model number of your device manually. After that, you will see the latest firmware on the screen. 

Step 10: Select the browser option to search for the file and then transfer it to your device. 

Step 11: Restart your device after the download and installation are complete. 

Step 12: To go ahead with the setup, download the app on your mobile device and then select "New extender setup". 

Step 13: Connect your wireless extender to the mobile using your Wi-Fi network. Carry out the instructions appearing on the screen to complete the procedure. 

Step 14: Alexa setup is mandatory for the Orbi voice setup. In case you haven't created an account on Amazon yet, then you must register first. 

Step 15: Then, you can keep your Orbi voice and router at the desired place.
